Venezuelan women held at Maraval bar
Seven Venezuelan women are expected to appear before a Port of Spain Magistrate on Wednesday after they were arrested at a bar in Maraval.
The women, said to be between the ages of 20 and 42, were held on Friday night by officers of the Western Division.
The officers, under the supervisions of ACP Hackshaw and Snr Sup Sankar, received information which led the lawmen to a bar, where searches were conducted.
The seven women, LoopTT was told, were unable to provide evidence of entry into this country via a valid port of entry.
Furthermore, four of the women were held with a quantity of marijuana, while the other three women were detained on suspicion of committing or preparing to commit serious crimes in the district.
As a result they were all detained and taken into custody.
More on this as it becomes available.
