Police detained three Venezuelan nationals who they said were found with a sub machine gun and over 200 rounds of ammunition on November 9, 2018.

In an update shared Saturday, the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) said the three Venezuelan nationals were arrested for possession of a Keltec Sub 2000 machine gun, 1 magazine, 264 rounds of 9mm ammo and 87 rounds of 5.56mm ammo.

The suspects, ages 20 to 25, were arrested following an anti-crime exercise conducted in the South Western Division on November 9, 2018.

During the exercise, officers carried out a search of a house in Icacos Village, where they discovered the guns and ammo hidden in a market bag.
