'Victim' in robbery later held for being an accomplice

A woman who claimed that she had been robbed, was subsequently arrested and charged for making a false report.

Police were initially told that around 8 am on Thursday, two women were on their way to work at Western Union, Sangre Grande.

At the time, one of the women was carrying a bag of cash with assorted currencies.

While on the roadway, they were attacked and accosted by an unknown man, who stole the bag and escaped.

A report was made to the police and an investigation was launched by the Eastern Division Special Operations Unit led Sgt Harper including  Cpl Ramnarine, PC Singh, PC Lezama and PC Samuel.

The officers later received intelligence that one of the victims was actually an accomplice.

She was detained and charged for making a false report as well as larceny of the money.

WPC Kheerai - Roopnarine is the complainant (charging officer) in this matters. Police are searching for her accomplice.
