VMCOTT approved for ‘T’ vehicle inspections

The Vehicle Management Corporation of Trinidad and Tobago (VMCOTT) has been approved as an official testing station for the inspection of “T” Goods vehicles.

The Ministry of Works and Transport on Tuesday advised that motorcycles and private cars not exceeding a tare weight of 2,270 kgs and “T” Goods Motor Vehicles up to 3200 kgs M.G. can now be inspected at VMCOTT locations at a cost of $300.

Vehicle owners who wish to have their vehicles inspected are invited to contact VMCOTT to schedule an appointment. Walk-ins will also be accommodated on a first-come-first-serve basis.

Drivers are required to present their original Certified Copy, Insurance Certificate and Drivers Permit.

Motorists are further advised that any engine or colour change must be conducted at a Licensing Department and reflected on the Certified Copy.

The vehicle must be engine and under washed, and must not be sprayed with shock oil until the inspection process is complete, the Ministry added.

Motorists are reminded while a five month moratorium was granted on the inspection of motor vehicles in July, they are still legally required to ensure that their vehicles are inspected.

The Ministry said the moratorium will provide drivers with sufficient time to ensure that their vehicles are properly inspected, and the necessary inspection stickers are affixed to their vehicles, in accordance with the requirements of the Motor Vehicles and Road Traffic Regulations.

The five-month moratorium will expire on December 31, 2018.

Drivers are urged to ensure that their vehicles are in a roadworthy condition, as the Government seeks to bring the incidence of road traffic accid
