Update October 5, 2018:

A recent hazardous seas alert issued by the Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Office has since been cancelled.

In an update issued Friday, the Met Office said conditions have returned to Green Level and that long period swells no longer pose any significant threat to the coastlines of Trinidad and Tobago.

The Met Office urged the public to remain cautious when entering the sea.

On October 4, the Met Office issued a Yellow Alert warning sea-goers of rough seas and choppy conditions.

The Met Office said the event would last approximately 24 hours, with long period swells with forecast values of 12 seconds.

The public is also asked to obey the instructions of lifeguards and to monitor the Met Office for continued updates.
