WASA crews work to fix Piarco leak

Parts of North Trinidad remain without a water supply at this time, as repairs continue on a ruptured 12 inch transmission main at the Piarco Airport Round-about.

Emergency repair work was expected to be concluded at 6am, however, work crews are still at the site carrying out repairs.

The transmission main developed a leak around 5 pm on Saturday, resulting in an interruption of supply on WASA Caroni North Transmission System in order to facilitate repair work.

Affected areas include: Piarco Airport, Port of Spain, St. James, Cocorite, Santa Cruz, Barataria, Morvant, Laventille, Beetham Gardens, Gonzales, Belmont, Cascade, St. Augustine, Curepe, Champ Fleurs, Mt Dor, Petit Bourg, Valsayn South, Bamboo, Mt. Hope Hospital, Aranguez, El Socorro, and San Juan.

Customers are advised that it may take between 12 and 24 hours for the supply to normalise to some affected areas.

For further information or assistance, customers can contact WASA’s Customer Call Centre toll free at 800-4420/4426.
