Watch: 48 hours of romance in Tobago
Tobago is undoubtedly the prettier sister in the twin island state of Trinidad and Tobago. With its white sandy beaches, lush green foliage everywhere and an air of calm, it’s the place you go when you want to relax and slow down.
It’s also the place where you can go to rekindle the spark in your relationship, enjoy a romantic getaway or even say ‘I do’.
If it’s a romantic destination you are looking for, Tobago has much to offer. Here’s how you can spend 48 hours of romance in Tobago.
Check into your hotel: The Mt Irvine Bay Resort is a great place to stay. Built in 1972, the hotel rests on a former sugar plantation and there are remnants of it around the 154-acre estate. The lavish grounds are perfect for a wedding or if you are looking for couple activities, you could play a round of golf on their award-winning, 18-hole golf course or take a walk to the Mt Irvine beach a few steps away.
Take an island tour: Spend quality time learning about the island. Drive through the island and marvel at some historic items such as the oldest tree and learn its ominous history, make a pit stop on Castara to sample bread and other island goodies baked in a traditional mud oven and experience the lush beauty of Tobago’s rainforest that supplies the island with water.
Have a scenic lunch: Soak in the breathtaking beauty of the Parlatuvier Bay while enjoying a delicious lunch at Glasgow’s Bar.
Sail into the sunset: Book a glass bottom boat from Waterholics and enjoy a sunset sail in Buccoo Reef where you can see corals, go snorkelling to see the colourful fish that live among them and take a refreshing bath in the crystal clear water of the Nylon Pool.
Party by the bonfire: End the day with a cosy dinner on No Man’s Land courtesy Waterholics and cuddle around the bonfire before heading back to your hotel.
Soak in the water: After a hectic first day, you want to take it extra slow on day two. Head to the famous Pigeon Point Beach where you can frolic in the clear water all day long or soak in some rays on the white sand.
Plan your wedding: While at Pigeon Point, take a tour of the wedding facilities. Walk along the most photographed pier in the world or check out the new Pigeon Point Heritage Hall where for just TT$21,000 you can have your wedding ceremony and reception with the beach as your backdrop.
Get an outdoor massage: If you are a guest at Villa Being in Arnos Vale, be sure to end your day with a relaxing outdoor massage.
