WATCH: Brian Mac Farlane's Christmas Joy wows audiences

Patrons who attended the Gala Opening of the Brian Mac Farlane musical “Christmas Joy, The Gift of the Drum” left singing praises to the show dubbing it “the best ever”.

Before the show, as patrons entered Queen’s Hall, St. Ann’s, Port-of-Spain on Sunday, November 26, they were greeted with the enchanting transformation of the exterior, where huge drummer boys and reindeer were erected and the sweet sound of the yuletide played by a saxophonist.

In the foyer, hundreds of people enjoyed wine and cheese as they awaited the start of the two-hour long show.
“Christmas Joy, The Gift of the Drum” didn’t disappoint. Minor opening night glitches aside, the musical provided Broadway-type entertainment and flowed magnificently.

President Anthony Carmona attended the Gala and could be seen congratulating the accompanying choir and cast after the show.

The star-studded cast included veteran Christmas crooners Lennox Gray and Kelwyn Hutcheon along with Wendell Constantine, Marlon de Bique, Wendy Sheppard, Anne Fridal, Alethea Beharry, Christian Mendez, Stephanie Nahous, Marvin Smith, Ancil Valley, Raquel Winchester, members of Cascade Festival Ballet, Twin Inc and the UTT Rapturous Chorale.

Part proceeds from the Gala Night will be donated to The Children’s Ark.

The show continues on Wednesday, November 29 to Sunday, December 3. Showtime is at 8 pm, with the exception of Sunday which starts at 6:30 pm.
