A gardening revival has swept the country during the pandemic, creating a renewed interest in plants, home gardens and green spaces.

Loop News recently visited Centrascape Garden Centre and spoke with Director and Head Grower, Balliram Beharry, who has been in the business of landscaping and horticulture for over 30 years.

Beharry’s key tips for new gardeners are effective and simple: research, perseverance, and passion.

For healthy plants, Beharry recommends researching the requirements for each plant to ensure the right type of soil, adequate light and watering schedule is provided.

For pests, Beharry recommends natural solutions such as neem oil and the careful use of chemical solutions if necessary. Plants must also be allowed adequate circulation, removing dead leaves and any material which might encourage mould or fungus.
