Watch: Jereem Richards edges Kyle Greaux in 200M final

The Hasely Crawford Stadium crowd was treated to an exciting 200m final on the last day of competition of the NGC NAAA National Championships on Sunday. 

Jereem Richards stopped the clock at 20.14 seconds with Greaux clocking a close 20.18 for the silver. Akanni Hislop copped the bronze medal in a time of 20.68. 

After the race, Richards said he felt good retaining his national title and thanked his friends and family for their continued support.

In the female version of the race, the absence of Michelle Lee Ahye tempered the excitement but Kamaria Durant brought the crowd to life with her gold medal run of 22.96 seconds, Mauricia Prieto took the silver in 23.09 with Semoy Hackett third in 23.32.

The men’s 5000M final proved to be another exciting affair with Sherwin Stapleton and Alex Ekesa going neck and neck for most of the race. Eventually, it was Stapleton pulling away in the home stretch to win in 15.17.71 with Ekesa taking silver in 15.19.21. Shirvan Baboolal grabbed the bronze in a time of 15.24.77.
