Watch: Locusts swarm, feast on trees in Moruga

Agriculture Minister Clarence Rambharat says swarms of locusts which litter the skies in Basse Terre, Moruga, are normal at this time.

Happy Hill residents told Loop TT that for over a week, locusts have eaten the leaves of trees in the neighbourhood.

They believe the pests are migrating.

Responding to a WhatsApp message, Minister Rambharat said there is nothing unusual about the swarm of locusts.

He assured residents that the insects will soon return to the forest.

"The mature locusts will swarm and feed up in the trees. From there they would go into the Forests for nesting. The officers at Craignish are monitoring," he said.
