Nadia Batson celebrates birthday with new party release

Nadia Batson is celebrating her birthday with the season's first big party release.

Shake Down, produced by Barbados' De Red Boyz, is described by Batson as a Groovy Power Soca.

"It is not a power but I wanted to bring the party vibes we used to have," she said at the premiere of the song at her home studio in Arima on Wednesday night.

The song urges people to party like it's 1990 and has a sound reminiscent of that era.

Batson said this is the first time she has recorded a song with the Red Boyz. She has previously written songs for the powerhouse production duo of Scott Galt and Mikey Hulsmeier.

'Shake Down' marks Batson's third release for the Carnival 2019 season so far and was written by De Red Boyz, Batson, Erikkson George and Vernice Herreira.  Her other songs are the popular 'So Long'  and 'Strangers' and she promises more Power releases in the new year.
