Watch: Officer involved in St Joseph accident

A police officer is said to be nursing injuries at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex following a motor vehicular accident on Monday morning.

While information is still coming in, the incident reportedly took place at about 10:30 am on Monday in the vicinity of Farm Road, St Joseph.

A police officer was said to be in an unmarked SUV proceeding along the Priority Bus Route in a westerly direction, when upon reaching the vicinity of Farm Road, he came into contact with another vehicle which was driving in a southerly direction.

This vehicle, from initial reports, was being driven by a university lecturer.

Emergency health services were notified and both parties were taken for medical treatment.

However, the injuries sustained by the police officer were said to be more serious and needed immediate treatment.
