Watch: Police investigating armed robbery in supermarket car park

Police are reviewing CCTV footage from cameras set up between West Mall and the East Dry River to help identify the two men who robbed a 52-year-old man in the car park of a supermarket on Thursday night.

The incident took place just after 7 pm on Thursday at the car park of Massy Stores West Moorings.

Police said the victim and his teenaged daughter were walking towards their truck parked in the supermarket’s car park when they were confronted by two armed men.

The men announced a hold-up and relieved the man of his cash, jewellery, grocery items and the keys to his truck.

One of the bandits entered the truck and drove away, while the other drove off in a white Mitsubishi Lancer which had been parked next to the truck the whole time.

Part of the incident was recorded on CCTV cameras.

The stolen vehicle was recovered less than 90 minutes later along Quarry Street, Port of Spain.

Criminals had already begun scrapping the vehicle down for its parts.

PC Woods is continuing inquiries.
