WATCH: President Anthony Carmona "jamming still"

Republic Day 2017, saw 40 Trinidad and Tobago nationals receive this country's highest awards at the National Awards Ceremony.

President Anthony Carmona was sure to make it a celebration as he danced with his wife Reema and other patrons, following the event.

Grooving to the live performance of MX Prime's Full Extreme, the President was jamming still.

Posting the moment to Instagram, the page Carnival Hot Spot said, "We know many of you will disapprove of this and have a lot to say, but your approval is not necessary. Life is too short not to celebrate the nice moments."

In July, Carmona announced that the National Awards Ceremony would be held on Republic Day as opposed to Independence Day as he wanted members of the public to understand the significance of T&T becoming a republic.

Following the ceremony, the National Awards Committee became the subject of contention, after it awarded Akeem Stewart the Humming Bird Gold while it awarded Lalonde Gordon, Jarrin Solomon, Jereem Richards, Machel Cedenio and Renny Quow the higher rank of Chaconia Medal Gold, despite all men receiving gold medals in their respective international events.
