Watch: Runners descend on Nelson Mandela Park for Shine 2018

Almost 5000 runners, walkers and strollers descended on the Nelson Mandela Park on November 24, 2018, all there to participate in Guardian Group’s Shine 5K and 10K races.

The 5K saw over 3000 participants, with Michael Honore taking the top spot in the men’s category with a time of 17:57 and Sophie Potter topping the females with a time of 22:45.

The 10K, which attracted just over 500 runners, was won by Guyana’s Kelvin Johnson who came in with a time of 35:03, and among the women, Samantha Shukla placed first with a time of 38:49.

The Shine charity event will benefit over 31 charities this year including the Cyril Ross Nursery, Down Syndrome Family Network, Express Children's Life Fund, Healing With Horses Foundation, PlayAble Caribbean, Raffa House for Girls, Rainbow Rescue, and The Princess Elizabeth Home for Handicapped Children.
