WATCH: Teen alleges mother forced her into prostitution

A teenage girl is appealing to the authorities and members of the public for assistance in removing her from an abusive home situation.

In a near five minute video posted to social media, the young girl claims her mother forced her into prostitution. She said for the last three months, she has been “making fares” on Murray Street in Port-of-Spain.

She also alleges that she has suffered physical abuse at the hands of her mother on occasions that she has refused to carry out the sex acts. Further, she claims that she has been the victim of sexual abuse perpetrated by several of her mother's boyfriends.

The matter has attracted the attention of the Children’s Authority, which is now appealing to the person who recorded the video, or anyone else that has information about the child.

The Authority is asking anyone with news on her whereabouts to contact our Hotline at 996 or 800-2014. All calls are confidential and can be made anonymously.

The public is advised that according to the Children Act (2012), anyone who causes or encourages the prostitution of or sexual penetration of a child, commits an offence and is liable on conviction on indictment, to imprisonment for life.
