Watch: Thief makes off with $144K in jewellery
Police are investigating a report in which a man stole an estimated $144,000 in jewellery from a store in Gulf City Mall.
The entire incident was caught on CCTV cameras.
As such, police are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the thief.
According to police reports, at about 12.55pm on Saturday, the proprietor of the store was conducting sales at his store, Rajendra’s Jewellers, when he was alerted by a shopper that someone was seen tampering with a showcase.
The proprietor checked back the CCTV cameras, and observed a man of African descent, 5’10” tall, slim build, brown complexion, wearing a blue and white shirt with a blue jeans and black hat, interfering with the show case.
When the proprietor checked, he observed that a gold tray, with at least 144 gold rings, along with various birth stones, were missing.
The police were notified and Cpl Mohammed along with a party of officers from the San Fernando Police Station visited the scene.
Crime scene investigators also found workable prints.
