Watch: TTPS launches online Certificate of Character system
The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) has made it a bit easier to access Certificates of Character (COC) by launching an online form service.
Certificates of Character are usually a staple for applying for jobs in Trinidad and Tobago. Due to COVID-19, the TTPS was forced to suspend the in-person service.
Manager of Corporate Communications, Francis Joseph said he’s pleased that the service is now able to offer a technological approach to the service.
“We at the TTPS are extremely excited and proud to use technology to serve and continue serving the public,” he said.
Now, through the service’s website, applicants can fill out a form with their personal information which submits to the respective station.
“The procedure at police stations going forward in relation to the collection of completed Certificates would be the Customer Service Representative at the particular station, CSR. The CSR will communicate with the applicant and inform them that their Certificate of Character is ready for collection,” Joseph added.
As the process is developed, the TTPS intends to implement a unique tracking number to follow up on requests.
For now, citizens can expect that the representatives at the designated stations will relay all relevant information and instructions as applications are made.
“It began yesterday, Wednesday, September 16. So far, we have received many applications on line as the public has taken to this new technology. COVID-19 forced the closure of his service as the TTPS limited the number of persons going to police stations,” Joseph said.
