Watch: Umoja Sign Language group makes music inclusive

What started out as an initiative to teach sign language to secondary school students has turned out to be a popular form of entertainment in Dominica.

The Umoja Sign Language club of the island's top school, the Convent High School, is making its name with performances across the island with its sign language interpretations of popular songs particularly soca.

The group gained prominence when they appeared in the Famalay video, part of which was shot in Dominica.

They also made their debut at the Dominica World Creole Music Festival this past weekend, performing to a number of soca songs.

The Groups founder, Leandra Lander, spoke to Loop following their performance and told us about the origins of the group and their work to date.
