Watch: Vaughnette Bigford's Carnival Jazz Brunch
Vaughnette Bigford’s Carnival Jazz Brunch, the alternate carnival event, offered an all-inclusive experience with a difference. A seemingly bold move in the heart of the carnival season saw the large turnout of patrons enjoying Jazz by one of the leading jazz vocalists in the Caribbean along with Kaiso and Pan.
Speaking to Loop News Bigford said, “To be honest I was really a little worried about how people would take this as something that’s different, but people came out and I think there are having a wonderful time and I’m really really really thankful and very excited.”
Apart from Vaughnette Bigford, Marva Newtown treated the audience to some vintage Kaiso while the Codrington Pan Family entertained with the sweet sound of pan.
The event held at the Lions Cultural Centre on Fitzblackman Drive on Sunday, January 19 saw a sold-out crowd with several public figures in attendance. Minister of Community Development, Culture and the Arts Dr. Nyan Gadsby-Dolly, Cultural Icon Pearl Entou Springer and former Minister of Gender, Youth and Child Development Ms. Verna St. Rose Greaves attended.
“Ah almost afraid to say it now eh but this event is going to be an annual event, it took a lot out of me but I’m seeing that people are responding because they think is something special so I’m going to do this event again and again,” Bigford said.
