Weed on the Port; two held with drugs in panel van

Two men were held on Monday after an estimated 10 pounds of high-grade marijuana were found in a vehicle at the Port of Port of Spain.

The men were held during a routine search of a panel van at the Port before one of the scheduled trips on the inter-island ferry to Tobago.

According to police reports, around 3:30 pm on Monday officers received key information which led them to a white van.

A team of officers from the Port Police Task Force, including officers Joseph, Sookoo and Sinanan, conducted a search.

The drugs were said to have been found inside the doors of the vehicle.

As a result of the find, the men were arrested and taken into custody.

A search was performed at the Diego Martin homes of the two men, however, nothing illegal was found at the residences.
