Weekend carnage: 2 killed in separate accidents
Two persons have been killed in separate road traffic accidents over the weekend.
According to police reports, around 5:30 pm along Reform Link Road, near the Brian Lara Stadium, a motorcycle collided with a vehicle.
According to reports Nicholas Paul and his teenaged daughter had been taking a short spin on his motorcycle which he had bought a few weeks ago, when they were hit by a passing vehicle which had been overtaking several other cars.
Emergency responders were contacted and saw Paul and his daughter lying on the ground with multiple injuries.
Sadly, Nicholas Paul succumbed to his injuries at the scene. His daughter and the driver of the car were rushed to hospital for treatment. His daughter is said to be in a critical condition.
Investigators suspect one of the vehicles was travelling at a great speed as the force of the impact caused the motorcycle to break into two pieces.
In a separate incident, Julia Ayers, 62, and her husband Oswald Ayers, 67, were trying to cross the Priority Bus Route around 7:15 pm near the Bon Air Secondary School in Arouca when she was hit by a passing vehicle.
She died as a result of injuries sustained.
In yet another incident, two women were involved in an accident in Santa Cruz on Sunday morning (pictured below) in which a Toyota Corolla and Hyundai Elantra collided. There is as yet no information on the injuries sustained.
There are reports of yet another accident which occurred near Freeport along the southbound lane of the Solomon Hochoy Highway around 3:00 am on Sunday morning, in which a man collided with another vehicle. There is as yet no information on the extent of injuries sustained.
