Woman, 26, appears in court for sexually abusing boy, 14
A Sangre Grande woman who was charged with sexual penetration against a male child has appeared before the Port of Spain Magistrates’ Court to answer to the charge.
Shaneeza Muntaz, a 26-year-old nutritionist was granted $100,000 bail with surety when she appeared before Magistrate Adia Mohammed on Monday.
The matter has been adjourned to December 13.
According to a statement from the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service, the offence is alleged to have occurred at the Cascadia Hotel, St. Ann’s on July 18 against the 14-year-old boy.
A report was subsequently made by the victim’s mother to the Child Protection Unit Port of Spain Division (CPU POSD) on September 22, which led to Muntaz’s arrest on Sunday.
The charges were laid in accordance with the Children Act 2012 Chapter 46:01, which states, “penetration of a child” includes— (a) the insertion of any body part or any object into a child’s bodily orifice; or (b) the insertion of a part of a child’s body into a person’s bodily orifice.”
