Woman, 3 others injured in Arouca shooting
Police are investigating after a woman and three others were shot while at a lime in Arouca on Tuesday night.
Their injuries, police said, are not said to be life-threatening.
According to police reports, around residents of Campbell Lane, of Waterloo Road, Arouca, heard several loud explosions around 8.10 pm on Tuesday night.
Upon investigating, five people were seen bleeding from injuries. Four of them, police said, appeared to have been shot.
An alarm was raised, and the injured people were rushed to the Arima Hospital.
A team of officers under the supervisions of Sup Edwards, ASP Gyan, and Insp Pitt, visited the scene where several spent shells were said to have been recovered.
Police were told that the group was liming near the front gate at a home along the roadway when two men wearing face masks were seen on the roadway some distance away.
The men pulled out what appeared to be guns and shot at the group.
Police said two people including the female victim were shot in their legs while two others were shot in their lower abdomens.
The fifth man was injured while throwing himself onto the ground to take cover.
Investigations are continuing.
