Woman abducted and robbed, set free in Preysal area

Couva police are investigating a report in which a 23-year-old woman was abducted and robbed, before finally being set free.

According to police reports, the victim, who hails from Longdenville, was on her way home in a white Mazda motor vehicle on Friday when around 2:30 am, she was intercepted by a panel van.

She told police that three masked men, armed with guns, exited the van and ordered her to hand over her valuables, including a quantity of cash as well as her cellular phone.

She was then blindfolded and thrown into the trunk of her vehicle and the car drove off.

She said that she was released in the Preysal area, and the assailants escaped.

The 23-year-old was able to flag down a passer-by, and she was taken to the nearby Couva Police Station, where she made a report.

Investigations are continuing.
