Woman allegedly tosses boiling water on relative

A 29-year-old woman is in police custody after she allegedly threw a pot of boiling water on a relative.

According to reports, the incident took place around 12.50 am Sunday at the family's home along Mt Dor  Road, Champ Fleur.

Police were told that the two were in the kitchen of the home when they got into an argument.

At the time, there was a pot of water boiling on the stove, which had been intended to be used to facilitate a hot bath.

However, the 29-year-old woman allegedly grabbed the pot and threw it on her relative - a 28-year-old woman.

The burning water went down the woman's back and legs, who suffered severe burns.

An alarm was raised and the injured woman was rushed to the Eric  Williams Medical Sciences Complex for treatment.

The suspect was subsequently held.
