Woman among four arrested for pistol and revolver found under sofa

Four people including a woman were arrested and a pistol, a revolver and a quantity of ammunition seized by officers of the Northern Division Task Force, Area Central, during an anti-crime exercise in Arouca yesterday.

The exercise was conducted around 2:55 pm during which officers executed a search warrant at Apartment B, Building 8, Oropune Gardens, Piarco.

The home is owned by a 32-year-old man and his 36-year-old common-law wife.

The search resulted in one black Glock 19 pistol, loaded with a magazine containing nine rounds of 9mm ammunition and a silver Amadeo Rossi revolver, loaded with six rounds of .38mm ammunition being found hidden under a sofa.

Four suspects; the apartment owners, a 35-year-old man and a 25- year-old man, both of Tunapuna who were in the apartment at the time of the search, were arrested in connection with the finds.

The anti-crime exercise was supervised by Sgt Ishmael Pitt and Cpl Ricardo Pamphille and included PCs Colin Williams and Dwight Coombs.
