Woman among four held in home invasion investigation

Four people, including a woman, are in police custody following a home invasion in Couva in which a family of three, including two elderly parents were assaulted and robbed at gunpoint.

The suspects are an 18-year-old woman from San Fernando; a 23-year-old man, from Claxton Bay; a 36-year-old man from Couva; and a 38-year-old man from San Juan.

They were all held at the end of a six-hour police exercise that completed at 12.30am today.

It was the result of a joint operation, which involved officers of the Central Division, the Eastern Division, and the Southern Division.

The officers received intelligence on the ‘get-away’ vehicle, which led officers Marakai Villas, Rabita Avenue, Mayaro. A search of one of the apartments, led by Insp Richardson, was conducted, and the four suspects were held.

The four match descriptions of robbery suspects in at least three policing divisions and are expected to be questioned in relation to several reports of robberies in these districts.
