Woman beaten during daylight robbery in Woodbrook

St James police are investigating a report in which a woman was beaten and robbed in broad daylight in Woodbrook.

The victim told police that around 5:00 pm on Saturday, she was walking along Roberts St, Woodbrook, heading west, when she was approached by a strange man.

The man announced a hold-up but was not armed. However when she called out for help the man began beating her about the body.

The man then grabbed the victim's handbag, her mobile phone, and other items of value and ran in a westerly direction along Roberts Street, and then got into a brown Hyundai Elantra.

The suspect was described as a man who was wearing a grey vest, black jacket, and was of slim build, low haircut, brown eyes, round face, low haircut and approximately 5' 11" tall.

Anyone with information which could lead to the arrest of the individual is asked to contact the St James police, or they can give the information anonymously through 555 or 800-TIPS.
