Woman in court to answer $145K in fraud charges

A 29-year-old woman is expected to appear before a Tunapuna Magistrate today charged with fraud.  

Police said that on Wednesday, officers of the Tunapuna police station received a report of embezzlement of $145,000 from an insurance company. 

A team of officers led by Sgt Ammon, and including Sgt Luke, Cpl Ramjohn, PC Seetaram, and others, conducted inquiries. 

The officers received intelligence which led them to the home of the woman along Job Avenue, Santa Cruz Old Road, Santa Cruz. 

The woman was detained, and questioned. 

In the presence of an attorney, she gave a statement which led to charges being filed against her.
