Woman dies after being hit by stray bullet

An incident in which a woman was hit by a stray bullet may now be a murder investigation, as the woman succumbed to her injuries earlier this week.

An autopsy was scheduled to be performed Friday at the  Forensic Science Center in St James to confirm the cause of death.

58-year-old Charmayne Gray, who police said was a grandmother of 12, was shot at about 10:00 pm on February 1 while she was asleep on a couch in the living room of her home.

According to police reports, residents of Blitz Village observed a silver Nissan Tiida with three men, who were not known to them.

As the men drove past certain areas, loud explosions were heard, and the car was seen speeding away.

Gray was shot in this incident to her buttocks.

She was rushed to the San Fernando General Hospital where she was treated, however, she never recovered.

More on this as it becomes available.
