Woman found dead on Toco beach
An autopsy is expected to be performed to shed light on the cause of death of a 21-year-old woman whose body was discovered this morning in Toco.
While there appeared to be marks of violence on the deceased, police could not confirm what caused the injuries.
According to initial reports, around 8 am on Thursday, Eastern Division officers received information that the semi-nude body of a woman was seen lying on its back at a beach in the Toco district.
A team of officers under the supervision of Snr Supt Nelson responded.
The woman, police said, was of African descent and was clad only in a bra.
A pile of clothing along with some bottles were found nearby.
In the clothing, sources said, officers discovered an identification card with a picture that matched the deceased.
However, up to 10 am today it could not be confirmed if relatives had been notified of the death.
