Woman held while attempting to traffic cocaine

A 21-year-old woman was held yesterday afternoon after she attempted to smuggle 65.5 grammes of cocaine to the United Kingdom in a shoe box.

The find, which is said to have an estimated street value of $91,000, was made when the woman attempted to ship the drugs in a box containing men's shoes.

The woman, who is from Enterprise, went to a shipping agency in Woodbrook, and signed off for the items.

However, when officials examined the contents, they realized that drugs had been hidden among the shoes.

As a result, the police were notified and officers from the Western Division and the Port of Spain Division responded.

Investigations are ongoing.
