Woman injured in Nelson Street shooting discharged from hospital

The 18-year-old woman who was injured in Wednesday afternoon’s shooting incident in Port of Spain, which claimed the lives of 41-year-old Kayode “Toes” Donawa, and 29-year-old Aaron “Max” Broomes, has been discharged.
The victim, who resides in San Fernando, suffered a gunshot wound to her right arm.
She was rushed to the Port of Spain General Hospital that day, treated, and later discharged.
The incident took place around 2 pm along Queen Street, Port of Spain, near Nelson Street Buildings 39-41.
Two men exited a white Nissan Tiida, and opened fire on a group of people.
They returned to the vehicle and fled the scene.
In the aftermath, four persons were injured – three being shot.
The shot parties were all rushed for medical treatment however, Donawa and Broomes succumbed to their wounds.
Police suspect the incident was gang-related as the victims were known to have ‘criminal associates’.
A total of nine spent 7.62mm shell casings, and five live rounds of 9mm ammunition were found on the scene.
