Woman robbed at gunpoint in Gasparillo

A 54-year-old woman was assaulted and robbed at gunpoint Wednesday morning at her home at Harmony Hall, Gasparillo.

The incident took place while the victim, Indira Sooknanan, was on the phone.

Two men entered her house and announced a hold-up.

One of the men, police were told, was armed with a firearm.

The woman told police that she attempted to flee the scene, and the armed assailant placed a gun to her head and told her they would kill her if she attempted anything like that again.

They placed the woman in the bedroom of her home and tied her up.

They then proceeded to ransack the home as they searched for items of value.

In the end, the bandits left with a quantity of jewellery, electronic items, and the victim’s vehicle.

The woman was able to untie herself and notify the police.

Officers from the Gasparillo police station visited the scene.
