Woman robbed of handbag in Arouca, one man held
Police have arrested a 30-year-old man after a woman was robbed of her handbag in Arouca.
According to updates from the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), the man, who is from Arouca, was arrested by officers of the Arouca Police station after the 65-year-old El Dorado woman was walking along the roadway in the Arouca district.
The victim was said to be walking along Henry Street around 3:15 pm on August 15 when she was accosted by two men who demanded that she hand over her belongings.
The woman raised an alarm and one of the men grabbed the bag before pushing her to the ground. The two men then ran off.
The men then ran off.
PCs Anton Francis and Levi Olton, of the Arouca Police Station, who were on mobile patrol in the area, were alerted to the robbery by passersby and their swift reaction resulted in the arrest of a 30-year-old suspect, along Trincity Central Road, Arouca, in connection with the incident.
The victim’s handbag was also recovered from the suspect’s possession.
Investigations are ongoing.
