Woman robbed while playing with child in yard
It's probably one of the things a mother can fear most, being in a situation where their child is potentially in danger.
This was the reality of a 29-year-old mother who was robbed while playing with her five-year-old daughter in the yard of their home.
Thankfully, neither of the victims were seriously injured, with the 29-year-old woman suffering minor injuries from being forced inside her home.
The incident allegedly took place around 12.50 pm on Wednesday at a house along the Valencia Old Road, Valencia.
According to police reports, the mother and child were in the yard of the home, when they were approached by two assailants.
The men told the woman they were armed and forced her into her home.
Once inside, the thieves stole six Bullfinch birds, together valued $9000, and six cages valued at $2350.
The items, police were told, belonged to the woman’s common-law husband.
The assailants then fled the scene.
The police were notified and the scene was visited by a team of officers led by WPC John and PC Samuel.
Several persons in the area were interviewed, and useful information was obtained, police said.
It is hoped that arrests will be made in the immediate future.
