Woman sexually assaulted on High Street in broad daylight

Police are investigating a report in which a 19-year-old woman was sexually assaulted in broad daylight in San Fernando.

The incident allegedly took place around 4.15pm on Friday on High Street. 

The victim told police that she had just left her workplace along High Street, San Fernando, and was awaiting transportation when she was approached by a man not known to her.

The man pulled out a knife from his pocket and threatened the woman, ordering her to move a short distance away.

He then sexually assaulted the woman, however, upon seeing persons coming the man fled the scene by running south along Chancery Lane.

The victim raised an alarm and police were notified.

Officers led by Cpl Mohammed and WPC Beetan visited the scene.

The victim was taken for medical treatment and a medical report was secured.

The description of the suspect is as follows -

A man of East Indian descent, approximately five feet, six inches tall, a dark brown complexion with straight black hair and an oval face and dark brown eyes, wearing a grey t-shirt, brown three-quarter pants, a yellow striped belt and a silver buckle.

Anyone with information which could lead to the arrest of the suspect is asked to contact the San Fernando Police Station, any police station nearest to them, or they can give the information anonymously through 482 –GARY,  555, or 800-TIPS.
