Women held for loitering on Woodbrook street corners

Seven women are expected to appear before a Port of Spain Magistrate on Monday, after they were held on Saturday night in Woodbrook.

The women, said to be between the ages of 21 and 32, were arrested during a police exercise by officers of the Port of Spain CID between 10 pm on Saturday and 3 am on Sunday.

The exercise was led by Snr Sup Ajith Persad, with assistance from ASP Parriman and Sgt Williams, among several others.

According to police reports, the women were observed standing on several corners in the Woodbrook community, and flagging down and talking to random motorists who were passing by.

The women were cautioned by the officers, however, when they remained in the area for an extended period of time, they were detained and taken to the Port of Spain CID office.

They were subsequently charged with loitering.
