WPC aiding with inquiries into police shootout at Grand Bazaar
A woman police constable (WPC) is said to be aiding investigators who are looking into Wednesday night’s incident at the City of Grand Bazaar, Valsayn in which a police sergeant and a police corporal opened fire on one another.
The WPC is said to be attached to the Police Crime Scenes Unit and is known by the two men involved in the shooting incident.
She was said to have arrived with the corporal at the Ruby Tuesday’s restaurant at about 9:30 pm on Wednesday before the confrontation took place.
Supt. Sheldon David, of the Northern Division, has been assigned to investigate the incident with oversight by the Professional Standards Bureau.
Over 28 spent shells were recovered from the shopping mall’s carpark following the incident.
CCTV footage captured part of the incident which began outside of the Ruby Tuesday’s restaurant.
Both officers were wounded in the incident and had to be treated at the hospital.
One of the officers was discharged at 7:00 am Thursday while the other remains warded.
