WPC in court for assaulting fellow officer
A Woman-Police Constable appeared in court via summons on allegations of assault and using obscene language against another police officer.
Anisa Ali appeared on Thursday before Magistrate Michelle Maharaj-Brown in the Couva Magistrates' Court.
The charges were both laid summarily, and Ali chose to enter a plea of not guilty.
As a result, the matter was adjourned as a State Attorney will need to be appointed to prosecute the matter.
At Thursday's hearing, Ali was represented by Gobin Harripersad and Chris Seelochan.
Sgt Lincoln Bonnet was the police prosecutor when the matter was called.
The charges were alleged to have taken place on February 18 at the Couva Police Station.
The matter is expected to resume on March 19, 2019.
More on this as it becomes available.
