A suspect has been identified in the shooting and wounding of a 32-year-old woman police constable in the Mamoral Village area on Tuesday night.
According to a statement from the TTPS, WPC Crystal Ross Abraham was the front seat passenger of a Toyota Hilux driven by her husband. The couple was proceeding along the Mamoral Main Road around 10:30 pm when the incident occurred.
WPC Abraham reportedly saw a man standing on the side of the roadway before she heard explosions. She then realized that she sustained two gunshot wounds; one to her left palm and the other to her upper right shoulder.
She was rushed to the Chaguanas Health Facility for treatment and was subsequently discharged.
Police believe the incident followed an ongoing dispute with a person known to the victim and said an arrest is imminent.
The release further noted that Acting Police Commissioner Harold Philip and the entire police service were praying for the WPC’s full recovery.
