Yoga Minute: Three yoga exercises for depression

More than 300 million people suffer with depression globally, according to the World Health Organisation (WHO).

At its worst, depression can lead to suicide. Close to 800 000 people die due to suicide every year.

Suicide is the second leading cause of death in 15-29-year-olds according to WHO.

Studies have shown that yoga can aid in lessening depression (persons suffering from depression are advised to seek advice from their doctors). 

Here are three yoga videos which can help with feelings of sadness or depression.


1. Yin Yoga

Yin yoga focuses on relaxing, releasing tension and healing the nervous system. 

Unlike other yoga types, yin yoga is more gentle and suitable for the elderly, persons recovering from illness and persons who may be feeling stressed in their lives.

2. Beginner's Yoga for depression and sadness
