Young: 'Full confidence' in businessman's ability in ferry probe
Government is standing behind the appointment of businessman Christian Mouttet as the sole investigator in a ‘fact finding’ exercise into the ferry fiasco.
Mouttet’s appointment as sole investigator to conduct an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the procurement of the Cabo Star and the Ocean Flower 2 ferries, as well as the entering into the charter party agreement with Bridgemans Services Group for these vessels was announced on Tuesday.
Since his appointment, there have been questions raised over his authority and ability to carry out such an investigation.
At Thursday’s Post Cabinet media briefing, Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister Stuart Young said Government had full confidence in Mouttet’s ability to get the job done.
The businessman has been given a 30-day deadline to deliver a report on the findings of the probe.
Asked whether the Port Authority board would remain in place while the probe is conducted, Young indicated that the board would not be affected throughout the course of the investigation.
