Young hands over info to Griffith on Cambridge Analytica drama
Created : 14 November 2019
National Security Minister Stuart Young has written to Police Commissioner Gary Griffith regarding damning allegations made by Canadian data consultant and whistleblower, Christopher Wylie, in his book Mindf*ck.
The book speaks of the spying activities of Cambridge Analytica on the people of Trinidad and Tobago in the 2010 general elections.
Minister Young raised the matter at a Media Conference held on Wednesday at the Ministry of National Security, Port of Spain in which he signalled his intention to call for a criminal investigation into the allegations and alleged involvement of then government officials of the UNC/Peoples’ Partnership government.
In his letter, Minister Young requested that Griffith consider investigating the allegations made by Wylie, who made similar claims in public parliamentary hearings in the United Kingdom and the United States.
Minister Young also provided extracts from Wylie’s book; an article from Open Democracy dated January 28, 2019; and minutes of a UNC NATEX meeting dated June 03, 2014.
