Zoo closes for one week due to COVID-19

The Emperor Valley Zoo will close for one week, amidst COVID-19 concerns.

The Zoological Society of Trinidad and Tobago has taken the decision that from Sunday, the Emperor Valley Zoo would go into maintenance mode for one week.

During this time the Zoo would be closed to visits by the public.

It said this is in keeping with the statement of the Prime Minister concerning limited activity in public places.

During the seven-day period, Zoo employees would operate on a revised shift system to ensure that animals are fed and looked after, and the facilities are secured and sanitized.

It added that maintenance workers would use the opportunity to work in areas usually traversed by the public during opening hours and would work on ongoing infrastructure projects.
