Beaches, churches, gyms, casinos reopen

Government has announced the further easing of COVID-19 restrictions.The new regulations will take effect from Monday.

Places of worship will reopen for services no longer than an hour.

The full public service will also return to work.

Exemptions will be granted to post-secondary and tertiary students to return to educational facilities to do lab work.

Gyms will be allowed to operate at a 50 percent capacity.

Additionally, casinos, cinemas and members club will also reopen at a 50 percent capacity.

However, no food and drink will be allowed in these establishments.

Beaches and coastal waters will be reopened but rivers and ponds remain closed.

Furthermore, in-house dining at bars and restaurants will not resume at this time.

A committee will be established to look at the removal of the exemption system used for the repatriation of nationals.

Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley made the announcement while speaking at a media conference at the Anne Mitchell-Gift Auditorium, Scarborough Library Facility in Tobago on Saturday.
