T&T downgraded for heavy debt burden

In its report, published on Friday, S&P said, however the outlook is stable.

"At the same time, we affirmed our 'A-2' short-term sovereign credit ratings. We also lowered our transfer and convertibility assessment for T&T to 'A' from 'AA-'."

S&P said the downgrade reflects further deterioration in T&T's debt burden, including a higher-than-expected rise in net general government debt to GDP and the interest burden over 2017-2020.

Minister reports 82% reduction in number of J’cans denied entry into T&T

At a press briefing at the Ministry’s headquarters Thursday morning Johnson Smith also revealed that since the start of the year there has been only one formal report of a Jamaican national being denied entry. The matter has been brought to the attention of the Trinidadian authorities for the necessary investigation.

T&T credited for KFC's Zinger

KFC's head chef Bob Das told Delish magazine that the sandwich originally hails from the brand's outposts in Trinidad and Tobago, where it quickly became the best-selling menu item worldwide. The sandwich is now in 120 countries since its inception in T&T in 1984. 

BHP Billiton moves accounting services to T&T

According to an update from the Energy Chamber of Trinidad and Tobago, the move means BHP Billiton will be be exporting accounting services from Trinidad and Tobago to the USA and other countries in the region. 

The Energy Chamber says this represents a 'rare win' in Trinidad and Tobago’s national diversification strategy, which has emphasised the development of service exports to complement the traditional export of oil, gas and petrochemicals.

Reyes goal sinks T&T in WCQ

The defender rose above the Trinidad and Tobago defence to power home a 58th minute header, a lead which the Mexicans held until the final whistle.

Joevin Jones had a goal ruled out for off-side in the 32nd minute, although replays showed that the Trinidad and Tobago winger to be on-side.

Trinidad and Tobago came into the encounter on the back of a 1-0 win over Panama on Friday, and almost went behind early but Jan-Michael Williams made a brilliant reflex save from Javier Hernandez.

1. Dr Camille Alleyne

By now many have heard of Dr Alleyne, an aerospace engineer who hails from Trinidad and Tobago.

Dr Alleyne was the first woman of Caribbean descent to hold a senior management position at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).

The recipient of several recognition awards from NASA, she played a lead role in the design and development of space vehicles, among them the state-of-the-art Orion crew exploration vehicle.

Praise for Molino as T&T beat Panama 1-0

Speaking to the media following the match, Lawrence said Molino was outstanding.

"He was very influential in allowing us to get the ball into attack in terms of the pitch, I was very pleased with him. Unfortunate that he ran out of gas but I was very pleased with him," he said.

Molino scored the lone goal that saw the team victorious. 

Trinidad and Tobago remain in fifth place with Mexico topping the region in the World Cup Qualifiers. The team will take on Mexico on Tuesday.

The Trinidad and Tobago Football Association said that a meticulous Security Operational Policy will be in place, adhering to FIFA regulations to ensure the safety and security of all those who attend the CONCACAF Final Round 2018 World Cup qualifying match which will begin at 7:00 pm on Friday, March 24  at the Hasely Crawford Stadium.

T&T men begin final prep for Panama game

A 26-man squad will assemble for the start of a residential camp and head coach Dennis Lawrence will conduct an evening training session at the Hasely Crawford Stadium.
