$10K bail for man held with marijuana

A 20-year-old man has been granted $10,000 bail after he was held for transporting 128.4 grammes of marijuana.

The suspect was held on Tuesday afternoon, carrying the drugs in two plastic bags in his hands, during a police operation along Dillon Street, in Diego Martin.

He was expected to appear before a Port of Spain Magistrate the following day.

But due to adjustments to the court proceedings that day due to a staff member having contact with a positive COVID-19 patient, he instead appeared before a Justice of the Peace.

He was granted bail, and ordered to report to the court on October 15, where his matter will be heard.

Police are once again reminding citizens that under current laws, the legal limit for marijuana possession per person is up to 30 grammes or up to four plants.
